Yunus (Peace be Upon Him)
Yunus was a Prophet of Allah who was sent to guide the people of Nineveh to the path of righteousness. He is best known for his encounter with a giant fish.
Yunus was a Prophet of Allah who was sent to the people of Nineveh, who were known for their disobedience and corruption. Yunus preached the message of monotheism and the avoidance of sin, but the people of Nineveh refused to listen to him. In frustration, Yunus left the city and boarded a ship, but was subsequently swallowed by a giant fish. While in the belly of the fish, Yunus repented and called upon Allah for help. Allah heard his prayer and caused the fish to vomit him out onto dry land. Yunus returned to Nineveh and the people finally heeded his message. They repented and turned to Allah, and were ultimately saved from destruction. Yunus went on to become a Prophet of Allah and a righteous man (Quran: Surah Al-Anbiya 21:87).
